Chase Sapphire Preferred Hits 100K
The wait is over: the Chase Sapphire Preferred is back with a 100,000-point welcome offer.
For a limited time, you can earn 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. That’s a huge jump from the card’s usual 75,000-point offer, and it matches one of the best offers we’ve ever seen on this card.
If you’ve been thinking about getting the Sapphire Preferred, this is the time to do it.
Why This Offer Matters
A 100,000-point bonus is a big deal because Chase points are still some of the most flexible points around. At a minimum, those points can be worth $1,000 in cash back, and potentially more if you transfer them strategically to travel partners.
That makes this offer attractive even if you’re not planning to keep the card forever. If you can hit the spend requirement without carrying a balance, this bonus alone makes the card worth a serious look.
Earning Rates
The Sapphire Preferred still has a strong mix of travel and everyday bonus categories:
• 5x on travel booked through Chase Travel
• 3x on dining
• 3x on gas stations and EV charging
• 3x on select vacation rental brands like Airbnb and Vrbo when booked directly
• 3x on streaming services and online grocery purchases, with exclusions
• 2x on general travel purchases made directly
That setup gives you solid everyday value, even beyond the welcome bonus.
Credits and Perks
The recent refresh added a few useful benefits without raising the $95 annual fee. That’s one of the biggest reasons this card still stands out in the mid-tier travel card space.
Notable perks include:
• A $100 Chase Travel hotel credit each account anniversary year
• Up to $120 for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or Nexus every four years
• Complimentary Apple TV+ through the end of the year when activated
• DoorDash DashPass benefits
• Limited-time Lyft and Peloton perks
If you use the hotel credit even once a year, the annual fee becomes a lot easier to justify.
The Drawbacks
This card is not perfect. The online grocery category is still awkward for people who mostly shop in-store, since it generally requires app-based ordering, pickup, or delivery to trigger the bonus.
The bigger issue is Hyatt. If you only hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Hyatt transfers are no longer as strong as they used to be, and that changes the value equation for people who treated Chase points like Hyatt points first and foremost.
That said, I still think this offer is strong enough to outweigh those downsides for a lot of people.
My Take
If you’re under Chase’s 5/24 rule, can meet the spending requirement responsibly, and want a flexible stash of points, this is a great time to pick up the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Even with the recent changes, Chase is still giving you a chance to earn a very valuable bonus on a card with a reasonable annual fee.
For me, the conclusion is simple: if you were already considering this card, the 100,000-point offer makes now the right moment to apply.
